Chapter 5
What
stuck out to me was how important it is to get your point across, to get your
readers attention. And try not to use big words all the time because it makes
it very boring for whoever is reading it.
As
a student I would not read it because I would not understand what the book, or
newspaper and article is trying to say. What surprised me was is all the essays
in chapter 5.It got my attention and I wanted to read them all. Yes I did learn
how important it is to research before, and get the facts straight, and then
write your essay.
The
Homestead on Rainy Mountain Creek (page 140) made me understand a bit what my
Father wait through as a young boy living on a reservation in New Mexico. My
Father is a full blooded Apache Indian, I never experience living on a
reservation, but my Father told story’s when I was growing up.
He
hated the Indian way so much that we were never to ask questions about where he
came from. But believe me when he was telling story’s I sat and listen. He told
a story about his grandmother ,she was a stolen child ,blonde hair blue eyes no
one ever looked for her they couldn’t the reservation is off limits to the law.
My Fathers Mother died when he was thirteen, he left home soon after to find
work at a tender age of just thirteen and never looked back.
