Chapter 3 Reading Response

Due to the fact that it has been a while since I have taken an English class, feelings of concern were starting to arise. Some of these concerns included essay structures, outlines, conclusions, introductions and coherence, however after reading chapter 3 information I thought I had forgotten, as well as new information began to seep back into my brain and reassure me. Along with the essay structure outlines and intro examples being especially helpful, the body paragraph and achieving coherence tips really stuck out to me and will be something I plan on referring back to.  Furthermore, I found there were some great tips through the chapter when using Microsoft Word to draft.  For example, those of us who are easily distracted (Me! Me! Me!) Turning off your computers auto correct during rough draft stages helps to avoid being distracted by grammatical errors.  I also learned about a nifty little feature called Track Changes, which “Allows you to revise while preserving the original draft. Your changes will not become permanent until and unless you want them to, so you can easily return to and restore all or part of your earlier work (Clouse 77).”  All in all chapters 3 of the textbook had some great information that I plan on using as a kick-start to my new English 121 journey!
